Research is critical in building a thorough understanding of the social space landscape and the first step towards mapping solutions to current social issues.
Lien Centre actively supports the development of thought leadership in this area through centre-conducted research and calls for proposals. We invite proposals that contribute to the understanding of critical social issues and potential means for their resolution.
More than just academic practice, we are commited towards a research value chain that can translate data, best practices and models into better non-profit sector performance.
The objective of our research and project initiatives is to generate insights, new thinking and foster innovative practices and outcomes, particularly in three key areas:
New Social Models: Identifying and fostering the changes that are needed by the different players in the charity ecosystem to bring it to the next level.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Understanding the Asian context for CSR and fostering it.
Unmet Social Needs: Identifying the gaps in the Singapore social landscape that are not being adequately met and how they can be.
As part of the Centre's efforts to encourage local research in the Social Innovation sphere, we would like to extend a grant to all undergraduate students (senior theses/equivalent) and postgraduate students (Master/PhD) who undertake research in this area.
This study of the social enterprise sector in Singapore was commissioned by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports to understand the current social enterprise landscape, their contributions as well as attitudes of VWO’s towards social enterprises. Data for this study was collected through quantitative surveys and supported by qualitative interviews.
This research portal has been designed to serve as an initial one-stop resource for the research and information needs of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation. The portal contains resources gleaned from the collections of the Li Ka Shing Library at Singapore Management University, as well as materials available from the internet.
